Meta tags checker: title and description

The page title and description show in Google results. The check walks through the site’s pages and finds empty, long and duplicated ones.

What a good title and description look like

The title is unique per page, up to 60 characters, with the key word near the start. The description is also unique, 70 to 155 characters, and says what the page offers. One H1 per page, canonical points to the page itself and og:image sets the image in messengers.

Frequently asked questions

Google rewrote my title. Why?

It happens when the title is too long, stuffed with keywords or does not match the page.

Does the description affect rankings?

Not directly, but a good one raises the click rate, and that shows in traffic.

Same title on several pages: is it bad?

Yes. Google cannot tell which page to show, and they compete with each other.
