Is your site in search or not? Check indexing in Google and Yandex, the reasons pages stay out of results and how to speed it up.

- 5ways to check indexing
- 2search engines to connect: Google and Yandex
- 1 mincheck for blocks and the sitemap
The short answer
The quickest check is the query site:your-domain in Google: it shows which pages are in the index. Search Console and Yandex Webmaster are more exact: they show which pages are indexed and why the rest are not. What blocks indexing is visible from outside: a robots.txt disallow, a noindex tag, no sitemap. Awe Check checks that.
5 ways to check
- The query site:example.com in Google or Yandex: fast but approximate.
- Google Search Console, the Pages report and URL Inspection: the exact status of each page.
- Yandex Webmaster, the Indexing section: pages in search and excluded ones.
- Bing Webmaster Tools: the same idea, and the index behind Microsoft’s AI search.
- Awe Check: checks that indexing is not blocked and that a sitemap exists.
Why pages stay out of the index
- A robots.txt disallow or a noindex tag on the home page or key pages.
- No sitemap and few internal links: the robot cannot find pages.
- Pages are empty, duplicate each other or are drawn by script with no text in the HTML.
- A new site: the first pages take a few days to a couple of weeks.
- A slow site or server errors: the robot arrives and cannot finish reading.
How to speed it up
- Add the site to Search Console, Yandex Webmaster and Bing and submit the sitemap.
- Turn on IndexNow: Bing, Yandex and others learn about new pages at once.
- Link to new pages from pages that are already indexed.
What Awe Check checks
Whether the home page can be indexed, whether robots.txt and a sitemap exist, whether there are redirect chains and broken links, whether titles and descriptions are clear and whether AI assistants can see the site. Each item names the page and the fix.
Frequently asked
How do I check whether a site is indexed in Google?
Type site:your-domain in Google. For an exact answer use Search Console: the URL Inspection tool shows the status of any page.
How long does a new site take to get indexed?
From a few days to two weeks. A sitemap, links from other sites and a Search Console connection help.
How do I know whether indexing is blocked?
Look at robots.txt and the noindex tag on the page. Awe Check checks both and tells you if the home page is closed.
How is indexing in Yandex different from Google?
The principle is the same, but Yandex has its own Webmaster, its own timing and extra attention to region and the site feed. Connect both.
