Search and speed

Check a website for availability and performance: what to look at

Does the site open for everyone, load fast and show up in Google and AI? A free check of speed, HTTPS and indexing in a minute.

Checked against sources: 7 October 2026

  • 2.5 sLCP: Google’s “good” threshold
  • 200 msINP: Google’s “good” threshold
  • 0.1CLS: Google’s “good” threshold

The short answer

A site works when it opens for a visitor with no browser warnings, loads fast and is not closed to search robots. That is four checks: server response and certificate, Core Web Vitals speed, mobile fit and robot access in robots.txt. You get all of them at once by entering the address in Awe Check.

1. The site responds without errors

  • The home page returns 200, not 404 or 500.
  • No redirect chains: one hop from http to https and from www to the main address is enough.
  • The certificate is valid: with an expired one the browser shows a red page and almost nobody gets through.

2. Speed in Google’s numbers

  • LCP: the main block appears in under 2.5 seconds.
  • INP: the reaction to a tap is under 200 milliseconds.
  • CLS: the page does not jump, shift under 0.1.

3. The site is usable on a phone

More than half of visitors come from a phone. Text reads without zooming, buttons are finger-sized, no horizontal scroll.

4. Robots can see the site

One stray disallow in robots.txt or a noindex tag can drop the site from results. Check that Google and the AI assistants you want to be visible to are not blocked. How to open the site to ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity is in the AI search visibility guide.

What Awe Check shows

A speed score against Google’s thresholds, the state of HTTPS and the certificate, mobile fit, robots.txt and the sitemap, with laws and security next to them. For every item it names the page with the problem and what to fix.

Frequently asked

How do I check whether a website is working online?

Open it in a browser and run the Awe Check scan: it shows the server response, certificate, speed and access for search robots.

How is availability different from performance?

Availability: the site opens and the server answers correctly. Performance is wider: it also loads fast, works on a phone and is visible to search engines.

Why does the site open for me but not for others?

Common causes: an expired certificate, a block by country or address, a DNS failure, browser cache. A check from a neutral server, like Awe Check’s, shows what everyone else sees.

What counts as good speed?

By Google’s thresholds: LCP under 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds, CLS under 0.1. You need all three at once.
